Eliminate fake news on social media.

The rapid development of social media brings many benefits. However, it also has a downside: unverified, fabricated, distorted, and slanderous information used to attract viewers and comments. This leads to a loss of security and order, and economic damage.

Fake news can create opportunities for traders to exploit farmers by lowering prices; rumors can sometimes rob people of their peace or even their lives.

Most recently, the Da Lat City Police in Lam Dong province summoned three individuals for questioning regarding rumors of unrest in the city. All three admitted that the information they disseminated was merely speculation and based on what they had seen and heard on the internet. According to authorities, the incident caused public uproar, creating panic among residents and tourists, and impacting the socio-economic activities of Da Lat City during the peak tourist season of April 30th and May 1st.

Fake news can sometimes be created as a joke for fun, or it can be a deliberate attempt by the person spreading the information to exploit a few uninformed, naive, or gullible individuals to manipulate, entice, or incite them to put pressure on agencies or organizations.

All fake news, whether intentional or unintentional, is a dangerous act for society and requires drastic measures to prevent it, because otherwise it will lead to serious consequences, encouraging wrongful actions, violations of the law, or profiteering.

To raise public awareness about fake news, it is necessary to intensify propaganda efforts, improve understanding, and advise people not to listen to or believe anything without official information from state agencies. When fake news emerges that poses a significant threat to social life, competent authorities must immediately verify it. Simultaneously, they must track down the author. Strict penalties should be imposed not only on those who spread fake news but also on anyone who disseminates such false information.

From the perspective of the public, in the face of the rampant spread of unverified information on social media aimed at gaining likes, it is necessary to maintain a high level of vigilance. Most importantly, it is crucial to wisely choose official sources of information for research, discussion, and sharing.

Implementing such measures simultaneously is the only way to prevent the actions of malicious individuals who deliberately spread fake news to cause panic and anxiety among the people, and to disrupt political security and social order as is currently the case.
