Qiao Feng's epic battle against a multitude of heroes at Ju Xuanzang is considered one of the most tragic scenes in Jin Yong's novels.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of novelist Jin Yong, many viewers remembered the writer and praised his imagination and character development in his works. Sohu noted that in his 15 novels, the Chinese author depicted many spectacular martial arts scenes. Below are some of the fight scenes that have been widely discussed by martial arts fans and are also important highlights in film adaptations of Jin Yong's novels.

Qiao Feng's great battle at Ju Xian Zhuang

In The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils , Ju Xian Zhuang is a place owned by the brothers Yu Ji and Yu Gou, known as the Yu Shi Twin Heroes. While their martial arts skills weren't top-tier, Ju Xian Zhuang held a renowned reputation in the martial arts world. The brothers were hospitable and befriended many swordsmen.

Many viewers consider the Battle of Ju Xian Zhuang to be the most spectacular battle in Qiao Feng's life, and also the most captivating in The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils . This scene portrays Qiao Feng's loneliness when the entire martial arts world turns its back on him, and his internal struggle as he must confront powerful martial artists.

Linghu Chong fights the lecherous bandit Tian Baoguang

In the novel *The Smiling Proud Wanderer* , Linghu Chong confronts Tian Baoguang to rescue the nun Yi Lin. At that time, Linghu Chong's martial arts were inferior to Tian Baoguang's, and he was stabbed 13 times, bleeding profusely.

In this situation, he had to use cunning to outmaneuver the more skilled martial artist. This scene highlights Linghu Chong's courage when placed in a difficult position, while also showing the "human side" of Tian Baoguang, as he kept his promise to Linghu Chong, calling Yi Lin his master after losing.

On CCTV , writer Jin Yong once explained that when writing martial arts novels, "martial arts" is only the superficial aspect; the spirit of the story lies in "chivalry." "Chivalry" means forgetting one's own self-interest to help others and do what is right. This spirit will endure in life forever. As long as people interact and live together, chivalry will exist. Martial arts are merely a means to express the chivalrous essence of the novel.

Rescuing Ren Yingying at Shaolin Temple

In the fight against Tian Baoguang (The Smiling Proud Wanderer), Linghu Chong was just an ordinary martial artist. By the time of the battle at Shaolin Temple, he had become a supreme master, arriving at Shaolin Temple to rescue his lover, Ren Yingying. This was a duel between formidable rivals, including the abbot of Shaolin, the head of Wudang, the leader of the Sun and Moon Cult, the leader of the Five Peaks Sword School, Linghu Chong, and Yue Buqun.

The battle is captivating thanks to Jin Yong's portrayal of martial arts and strategy, leaving viewers curious about who is ultimately more skilled. According to the novel, Master Fang Zheng is more skilled than Ren Wuxing, while Ren Wuxing is more formidable than Zuo Lengqian. However, Ren Wuxing knows how to exploit Fang Zheng's personality weaknesses, thus winning the battle. Zuo Lengqian, on the other hand, defeats Ren Wuxing through strategic maneuvering.

Zhang Wuji stepped forward to negotiate, urging all sides to stop fighting to resolve the conflict, but to no avail. He resorted to using the Nine Yin Divine Dragon and Qianlong Great Movement techniques to fight against the masters of the Six Great Sects. In a moment of carelessness, Zhang Wuji was seriously wounded by Zhou Zhiruo of the Emei Sect with the Yitian Sword.

According to Mtime , the match portrays greed and human choices in the face of fame and fortune. Many conspiracies and "unethical" motives lurk on the Summit of Light.
