- Leveraging its scenic advantages, in recent years, various levels and sectors in Loc Binh district have been focusing on developing eco -tourism products, thereby making a significant contribution to enhancing experiences and attracting a large number of tourists to the area.
Loc Binh District possesses rich and diverse tourism potential, particularly in ecotourism with 14 artificial lakes, including Ta Keo, Ban Lai, Na Cay, and Ban Khieng waterfall. Loc Binh is also one of the four UNESCO Global Geopark tourist routes in the province. Another notable attraction in the district is Mau Son Mountain, which has been planned and invested in by the Provincial People's Committee as a national tourist area. These factors are very favorable for the development of tourism in the district, especially ecotourism.
To capitalize on this potential advantage, various levels and sectors in Loc Binh district have implemented many important solutions. Ms. Pham Phuong Hue, Head of the Culture, Science and Information Department of Loc Binh district, said: "In the past, the department has advised the District People's Committee to coordinate with specialized units to invite investors with many preferential mechanisms, organize promotional activities, and focus on investing in infrastructure serving trade and tourism in the Mau Son National Tourist Area and Ban Khieng Waterfall tourist site. We also pay special attention to linking tourism with the cultural identity of the Tay, Nung, Dao... ethnic groups living in the area to diversify experiences for tourists."
From 2021 to the present, the district has been focusing on developing connecting transportation infrastructure, such as expanding and upgrading roads leading to the Mau Son tourist area and the route connecting the Chi Ma – Mau Son – Lang Son border gate. Simultaneously, it has intensified efforts to attract investment from large enterprises inside and outside the province to facilitate investment in tourism projects at potential locations such as: Ta Keo Lake ecological tourist area, Ban Lai Lake, Na Miu stream, Long Dau stream; Hang Cau stream and Khuon Van waterfall; the Vi family memorial site… The district has also created favorable mechanisms for the formation of resort areas, ecological tourist areas, and hotels with standards of 3 stars or higher. Priority is given to green and environmentally friendly tourism projects.
The district has also intensified its tourism communication efforts through various forms. From 2021 to the present, the district has distributed over 1,000 informational brochures about tourist destinations. In addition, the district has collaborated with media outlets inside and outside the province to create and publish over 100 news articles and programs introducing tourist attractions in the area. The District Department of Culture, Science and Technology has participated in displaying, introducing, and selling OCOP (One Commune One Product) products and local specialties such as fresh wild lemons, Mau Son wine, fresh rice noodles, sweet potatoes, etc., at major events organized by the province.
The district also focuses on promoting tourism and participating in tourism promotion activities and events. In 2024, the district's specialized unit coordinated with the Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion (CT&T) to survey and develop trekking tours (walking tourism experiences), and create explanatory materials for tourism programs at Mau Son Tourist Area... At the end of May 2025, the District People's Committee coordinated with the Provincial CT&T to conduct a survey to connect and attract investors and develop eco-tourism products in the area.
As a result, the district has initially developed several ecotourism products that attract many tourists, such as Ban Khieng Waterfall, Na Cay Lake, and the Phja Po trekking ecotourism site… Ms. Pham Phuong Anh, a tourist from Ba Dinh district, Hanoi, shared: “I was truly impressed by the beauty of Ban Khieng Waterfall. The fresh air, especially the cool water at the foot of the waterfall, made all my fatigue disappear, and the local specialties were also very delicious. I had a wonderful picnic and I will definitely come back here many more times.”
Mr. Hoang Van Duong, owner of the Na Cay Lake tourist area, said: "With the encouragement and promotion from the district, I went to learn and decided to invest nearly 1 billion VND in tourism. Here, tourists can experience many attractive services such as boating, camping, and enjoying local cuisine. Recently, the location has attracted many tourists, especially during the April 30th - May 1st holiday in 2025, when we welcomed nearly 500 visitors."
In fact, ecotourism has contributed significantly to attracting tourists to Loc Binh. In 2024, Loc Binh received 285,000 tourists (a 50% increase compared to 2019), with estimated tourism revenue of 162.45 billion VND. In the first five months of 2025, the number of tourists to the district reached 206,000, with estimated revenue of 123.6 billion VND.
With practical solutions being implemented, Loc Binh is not only unlocking its potential but is also gradually realizing its goal of becoming an attractive ecotourism destination in the province. This will not only attract tourists but also promote unique cultural and natural values, contributing to improving the livelihoods of local people and fostering sustainable tourism development.
