Việt NamViệt Nam05/07/2024

According to the reporter group, the stream flowing through Na Pha village, Ban Sen commune, Muong Khuong district, is used by hundreds of households every day for irrigation and livestock farming. However, on July 2, many dead livestock, including pigs, were discovered by local people floating down the stream. The pig carcasses have begun to decompose, emitting a foul smell, causing serious pollution to the stream, especially the risk of disease outbreaks in the context of the appearance of African swine fever. Households living next to this stream not only have to endure the stench but also worry about their pigs.

Ms. Le Thi Len, Na Pha village, Ban Sen commune, Muong Khuong district, shared: "This is the 7th pig, my family lives at the end of the stream and there is nothing we can do. Up there, many houses threw pig carcasses down there without us knowing, so we have to bear it."

Na Pha village has 150 households, more than half of which raise pigs. African swine fever has broken out for nearly a month now, causing many pig farmers to suffer. Ms. Din's herd of nearly 20 pigs has also gradually died from the disease. A few were hastily sold to traders, the rest were destroyed. It is worth mentioning that when the disease was discovered, the family handled it themselves without informing the authorities and experts to take appropriate disinfection measures.

According to local leaders, despite increased propaganda, the awareness of some people is not high, and the government's detection, control and destruction of infected pigs faces many difficulties.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ban Sen Commune, Muong Khuong District, said: "It is very difficult to detect, people can release pig carcasses at night. It is very difficult to get information at that time. In the coming time, we will increase propaganda."

People are worried when African swine fever breaks out in Ban Sen commune, Muong Khuong district.

According to some people, traders are still buying pigs at home without any control from authorities. This situation is very dangerous, not only posing a risk of spreading but also threatening the health of consumers. It is time for more drastic measures from the authorities and local governments to control and prevent the disease.
