According to our research, in recent years, pork prices in some countries in the region (such as China, Thailand, Cambodia...) have increased, causing domestic pork prices to increase as well. In addition, the demand for food consumption also begins to increase in the tourist season.
The increase in live hog prices has led to an increase in pork prices at markets and supermarkets. Specifically, pork belly is currently priced at 110 VND/kg, ribs 120 VND/kg, lean shoulder meat 115 thousand VND/kg, butt meat 95 thousand VND/kg… All of them increase by 10-15 thousand VND/kg depending on the type.
The increase in pork price is a good sign for farmers after a long time, the selling price has always been below cost. However, at this price, people only break even or have little profit. Therefore, the functional sector recommends that people should not re-herd or increase their herd massively, but should carefully monitor market developments to maintain a reasonable number of livestock, in accordance with the size of the barn.
