In this excited and vibrant atmosphere, not only in the center of Ho Chi Minh City, but also across the country, on social media platforms and in the hearts of every Vietnamese person, patriotism is being expressed in very unique, simple yet powerful ways, contributing to the everlasting vitality and development of the country.

Patriotism in Peacetime: When Simple Things Make Great Things

The trend of taking photos of "Patriotic babies" is spreading strongly, reflecting the natural, pure and emotional love for the Fatherland from the young generation.

Each generation of Vietnamese people inherits a strong flow of patriotism, but the way they express and nurture that sacred feeling bears the mark of their own era. With each passing decade, the way Vietnamese people express their love for their Fatherland is a continuous flow of change, adapting to the times but still keeping the sacred source intact. If in the fire of war or the difficult days of rebuilding after destruction, patriotism is measured by blood sacrifice, then in the context of peace , in the digital age and deep international integration today, that love is expressed by the young generation in a very profound and vivid way through very simple things.

Observing life around us, on social networks or right on familiar streets in Viet Tri city or anywhere in the S-shaped land, it is not difficult to recognize images that clearly show the patriotism of the people today.

That is when the red flag with yellow star is flying all over the streets, hanging solemnly in front of every house and every office. People invite each other to take creative photos with the national flag, integrating heroic revolutionary melodies and songs praising the homeland into videos shared on social networks. These seemingly simple actions have a strong influence, evoking pride and connection in the online community. The fact that young people use social networks to spread national pride through meaningful images and videos, or respond to positive "trends" related to the country shows their connection and affection for their homeland.

Coffee shops in the city are filled with the red color of the Party flag and the national flag.

Patriotism also permeates everyday spaces such as sidewalk stalls or coffee shops. We can easily see restaurants and cafes decorated with the national flag. Recently, there have even been food and drinks shaped like the flag or map of Vietnam. Although they may have commercial significance, the fact that consumers accept and enjoy these products shows a common mentality: the desire to see, connect and express patriotism in a close way, even in the most ordinary daily needs.

Another notable manifestation of patriotism among today's young generation is the shift in the search for and admiration for idols. Many young people no longer just follow music stars and entertainers, but pay special attention, express their love and pride for the people who are shouldering important responsibilities and directly contributing to the development and stability of the country. A clear demonstration is the emergence and attraction of a large number of followers of spontaneous social networking sites dedicated to high-ranking leaders such as General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , and President Luong Cuong. Intimate names such as "VitaMinh Chinh", "Beside Luong Cuong", "Uncle Giang's nephew"... on platforms such as Facebook and TikTok show a new, intimate approach of young people to the image of the country's leaders, demonstrating their interest and trust in the role of leaders in nation building.

Tiktok pages were created to express people's love for the images of the country's leaders.

Along with that, the enthusiastic reception of cultural products with historical values and national spirit is also a testament to the patriotism of the public, including the youth. Historical films are often sold out when released in theaters, creating rare ticket fevers. “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” is an example. The war film, recreating life and fighting in the Cu Chi tunnels, quickly surpassed the 150 billion VND mark in revenue after only 2 weeks of release, becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese war film ever. The “sold out” situation, especially during weekend screenings or holidays, shows the strong attraction of historical themes, the desire to learn, to relive the heroic atmosphere of our ancestors and to be proud of the glorious history of the nation is very great in modern society.

Similarly, large-scale political and artistic programs such as “North-South Promise”, “The Country Full of Joy” (programs celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification in 2025) produced and organized by Vietnam Television (VTV) and the Military Radio and Television Center (QPVN) have attracted tens of thousands of live viewers at the venue and millions of viewers watching on small screens or digital platforms. This proves that, even in the modern context with a variety of entertainment forms, traditional values, love for the homeland and country still hold an important position in the spiritual life of Vietnamese people, and political music programs are still an effective bridge to convey those emotions and pride to all generations.

Thousands of spectators watched the political art program "North-South Appointment" at My Dinh Stadium.

But “patriotism through simple things” does not stop at symbolic expressions or admiration, nor is it a grand action or waiting for important occasions, but it permeates the simple, familiar things in daily life. It is the awareness and action of each individual in living responsibly towards themselves, their families, their communities and contributing, no matter how small, to the overall development of the country. It is the transformation of sacred feelings into concrete, practical actions in daily life.

It could be not running red lights, not littering, being aware of disease prevention for public health, and respecting common property. It is also working and studying seriously, every page of a book diligently, every small creation at work contributes to enriching oneself and contributing to the overall development of the country. It is also loving one's mother tongue, speaking and writing standard Vietnamese, learning about national history, appreciating traditional cultural values, or simply introducing the beauty of the country and Vietnamese people to international friends. Patriotism is also loving one's fellow countrymen, helping those in difficulty, sharing with unfortunate lives, defending the right, condemning evil... It is building a civilized, disciplined society from individual behavior, a humane, united society - the solid foundation of every nation and people.

It is the sum of those simple, small actions that create great strength. They build the country from within, from the roots of each individual. They make patriotism no longer something distant, appearing only in books or on large forums, but become a part of life, present in every breath, every action.

Obviously, it is not that Vietnamese people are increasingly patriotic, but that love in the hearts of Vietnamese people has never run dry. It is a flow throughout the history of the nation. In the digital age and deep international integration, today's young generation has many conditions to express patriotism clearly, flexibly, creatively, diversely and in accordance with the pace of modern life. Expressions of patriotism are becoming increasingly rich and closer in daily life. From following the footsteps of those who steer the country's ship, being fascinated by historical films, to hanging a small flag in front of the house or simply living a kind life every day, all are pieces of the big picture of patriotism. Those simple actions, although not recorded in history books, are the silent source that nurtures and creates the greatness of the nation in peacetime.
