According to Xinhua News Agency, the flash flood disaster occurred in the upstream area of a river in Urad Rear Banner, Bayannur city, at around 10 p.m. on August 16, leaving 13 campers, including eight men and five women, missing.

More than 700 rescue workers were immediately dispatched to the scene to urgently search for the missing. According to the city's Emergency Management Agency, as of 3:30 p.m. on August 17, one person had been rescued.
The death toll has been confirmed at 10 while two victims remain missing.

The Ministry of Emergency Management has ordered a large-scale search operation for the missing and sent a team to assist. It also warned tourists to avoid undeveloped, remote areas and to exercise caution in geologically dangerous areas, especially during flood season.
