VOV.VN - Today, the water in the alleys of Hong Ha Street (Chuong Duong Ward, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi ) has receded. Since early morning, people in flooded areas have been busy cleaning their houses and alleys to soon return to their normal lives.
The Red River rose high, causing many alleys in Hong Ha and Chuong Duong wards (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) to be deeply submerged in water. Last night, the water receded, leaving behind a large amount of mud on the streets.
This morning (September 13), the weather started to clear up, people were busy cleaning their houses and draining water out of their houses.
People said that last night the water here receded quickly. From 3am, some households got up and cleaned their houses, rearranged their furniture, and soon stabilized their lives.
The elderly help their children and grandchildren clean and tidy up.
The children also enthusiastically helped their parents clean up.
Not only cleaning within the family, households in the ward also support each other to clean up after the flood.
From early morning, environmental sanitation workers were present to support flood victims in cleaning up trash.
Local militia enthusiastically helped people clean up to soon stabilize their lives.
The water receded, leaving behind a large amount of mud and garbage, making it quite difficult for people to clean up.
This is the biggest flood in the past 30 years, the water rose too quickly causing serious consequences for people living along the Red River.
Many alleys are submerged in mud, along the river, garbage from everywhere is dumped into a sea of garbage.
At Phuc Tan Primary School, which was also deeply flooded earlier, this morning, teachers and staff at the school joined hands to clean up to welcome students back to school soon.
Mr. Tran Van Thanh, Head of Group 3, Phuc Tan Ward (Hoan Kiem, Hanoi) said that the post-flood cleaning work was carried out early by the people in the ward, cleaning as the water receded. If the silt is not cleaned immediately, it will be flooded and dry, making it difficult to clean, so we mobilized the people to clean up immediately after the flood receded. The people responded enthusiastically and actively cleaned up to avoid environmental pollution and avoid causing diseases.
“This morning, people woke up at 3am to clean up. People in the ward are very united, helping each other clean up with a spirit of mutual love. After cleaning, we will ask the authorities to provide chemicals for disinfection, and at the same time, encourage people to disinfect the whole area, do a general cleaning, and avoid infectious diseases such as dengue fever,” said Mr. Thanh.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of Phuc Tan Ward People's Committee shared that before the flood, implementing the direction of the City Party Committee, the City People's Committee and the District Party Committee, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the Ward People's Committee had evacuated all households in the Red River bank area, moved to safe places as well as temporary shelters. The Ward People's Committee arranged 3 temporary shelters, one is Phuc Tan Primary School, the other is the District Sports Center and the location 360 Phuc Tan. After the flood receded, the leaders of the District Party Committee and the District People's Committee paid great attention and directed the forces of the district's departments and branches to Phuc Tan Ward and Chuong Duong Ward to support environmental sanitation work to avoid epidemics and waste pollution.
“The Ward People's Committee will hire units to trim the trees to remove any garbage stuck in them. After cleaning, the Chairman of the District People's Committee will directly direct the spraying of disinfectants in the entire area of Phuc Tan and Chuong Duong wards, especially the area along the Red River to prevent the outbreak of disease,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong.
Electricity industry representative said that today, many flooded areas in the ward also had electricity and water supply restored.
The water receded and the sun rose, creating many favorable conditions for people in the "flooded area" to clean up and dry their crops.
Everyone is working with the utmost urgency to return to normal life soon.
