Wishing Samsung Group to become a reliable partner of Vietnam in the journey of economic and technological development

On the evening of August 26, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mr. Roh Tae Moon, CEO of Samsung Electronics, who is visiting and working in Vietnam, along with the Group's associates and leaders of Samsung Vietnam.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the results of General Secretary To Lam’s State visit to South Korea; saying that high-level agreements during the visit are being actively implemented by both sides.

Believing that with the long-standing relationship, the number of Vietnamese people in Korea and Koreans in Vietnam, as well as the Vietnamese-Korean multicultural family, is increasing, the Prime Minister said that in any circumstances, the Vietnam-Korea relationship remains stable and develops well; it is an important good foundation for businesses of the two countries to cooperate and invest.

Expressing his thanks and joy at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh again on the occasion of Korea celebrating its 80th National Day (August 15) and Vietnam having many activities to celebrate its 80th National Day (September 2), Mr. Roh Tae Moon said that as of last year, Samsung's total investment capital in Vietnam reached 23.2 billion USD. In addition to Samsung Electronics, other Samsung legal entities such as Samsung Display, Samsung Electromechanics... have, are and will expand their investment in Vietnam.

By the end of June 2025, Samsung's mobile phone factories in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen had reached the milestone of producing 2 billion mobile phones after 16 years since starting production in April 2009.

Revenue in the first 6 months of 2025 reached 31.8 billion USD and exports reached 28 billion USD. In particular, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 "Made in Vietnam" phone launched last July is receiving much love in markets around the world, including the US and Europe.

Welcoming and appreciating the efforts, determination and business results of Samsung Group in general, especially in Vietnam, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Vietnam, as well as promoting the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Korea, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in 2025, Vietnam aims to continue improving the investment environment, promoting 3 strategic breakthroughs, effectively implementing the 2-level local government model, striving to achieve a growth rate of 8.3-8.5% in 2025 and double-digit growth in the period 2026-2031.

He said that Vietnam must promote rapid and sustainable development based on science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. Accordingly, the Politburo has just issued Resolution 57-NQ/TW. The Prime Minister hopes that Samsung Group and General Director Roh Tae Moon will continue to accompany, support and assist the Vietnamese Government in successfully implementing the above goals; at the same time, effectively implement the Group's strategies, plans and investment commitments in Vietnam in the coming time.

In the spirit of “mutual benefit; harmonious benefits and shared risks”, the Prime Minister hopes that Samsung Group will become a reliable partner of Vietnam in the journey of economic and technological development, towards the goal of mutual development and prosperity; continue to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in the fields of high technology, research and development (R&D); support Vietnam in building a technology ecosystem, especially in the field of chip and electronics manufacturing; promote digital transformation, develop information technology infrastructure and train high-quality human resources; promote the increase of localization rate, technology transfer to Vietnam; have Vietnamese people in the leadership of Samsung Vietnam...

Sincerely thanking the attention of the Government, the Prime Minister, the ministries, branches and localities of Vietnam for always accompanying, removing difficulties, creating a favorable business environment for enterprises in general and for Samsung in particular, and highly appreciating the efforts, dedication and contribution of 90 thousand Vietnamese officers and employees working at Samsung, General Director Roh Tae Moon said that Samsung Vietnam is committed to always accompanying the Government of Vietnam and making continuous efforts to contribute to the socio-economic development of Vietnam.

General Director Roh Tae Moon said that since 2015, Samsung has implemented many programs to develop Vietnam's supporting industry. In particular, since the beginning of this year, Samsung Vietnam has cooperated with the Group to establish a rapid response team to build a systematic sourcing process; expanding sourcing activities. After finding potential businesses, Samsung will focus on providing smart factory consulting support to not only improve competitiveness but also train manufacturing experts.

* At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed a commemorative plaque for the production of Samsung's 2 billionth mobile phone in Vietnam.
