Selecting contractors for the Cho Moi project

Talking to Giao Thong Newspaper about the implementation of the Cho Moi - Bac Kan route construction investment project, a representative of Project Management Board 2 (investor) said that currently, the survey and technical design work is being carried out, and is expected to be submitted to competent authorities for appraisal and approval in the period from October to November 2024.

According to plan, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan project will start construction in 2024 and be completed in 2026 (Illustration photo).

Notably, after the recent historic flood, the investor requested design consultants to monitor water levels and monitor flood developments at the Cau River. After reviewing the technical design and conducting on-site inspections, the parties agreed to make local adjustments to some locations.

Specifically, about 800m long section Km 1+400 (Thanh Binh Industrial Park, Thanh Thinh Commune, Cho Moi District) will be moved towards encroaching on residential areas to avoid erosion of Cau River.

About 1.5km at Km 4+500 (Thanh Thinh commune) will be moved with a deviation from the old route of about 10-60m to avoid affecting the existing stream flow.

About 2km at Km 11+500 (Thanh Mai commune) was adjusted to move about 5-10m away from the old route to avoid the rising water edge of Quan stream.

"Based on actual and expected progress, the issuance of bidding documents for construction projects will be carried out in November 2024; the evaluation of contractor selection results and signing of construction contracts will be completed in December 2024.

According to the approved plan, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan route will be invested with a complete 4-lane scale, 22m roadbed width, and a design speed of 80km/h. The total investment is more than 5,750 billion VND.

Also in December 2024, the Cho Moi - Bac Kan project will start construction after completing the required procedures," informed a representative of Project Management Board 2.

According to the reporter's understanding, to ensure the investment progress of the Cho Moi - Bac Kan road project, recently, the People's Committee of Bac Kan province also issued a notice of the conclusion of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Dang Binh at the meeting to listen to reports on difficulties and obstacles for the Land Acquisition and Site Clearance Sub-project of the project.

Accordingly, local leaders requested the investor to consider and study the plan to implement the handover of stakes, landmarks, and land clearance boundaries... for each route section in September 2024 and early October 2024 so that the units and localities of the province can organize the implementation of land clearance work contents according to schedule.

The investor is also requested to coordinate with the Departments, branches and sectors of Bac Kan province to exchange information on material usage plans, locations for dumping excess soil and rock,... and other related issues during project implementation.

"For the demand for common construction materials (sand, stone), Project Management Board 2 proactively provides the demand over time so that the relevant departments can coordinate and guide mining enterprises in the area, ensuring sufficient supply for the project according to the plan to make the most of local materials and labor, contributing to reducing the total investment of the project," the announcement stated.
