Experts believe that TikTok's large user base is gradually becoming a platform exploited by malicious actors to carry out fraudulent activities and steal assets.

Accordingly, perpetrators use fake TikTok accounts impersonating the application system, proactively messaging users and informing them that they are among those selected to participate in a new TikTok version trial program currently in the testing phase.
To attract the victims' attention, the perpetrators promise many new experiences. At the same time, in many cases, they also use the names of celebrities or influential figures on social media to increase credibility and gain the victims' trust.
After users access the link sent by the perpetrators, they will have to provide personal information to download the updated version.
Once the fake app is downloaded, users will have their devices compromised, and their personal information and data stolen.
The Cybersecurity Department advises users of social media platforms to be vigilant and verify the sender's identity when receiving strange messages. Absolutely do not access strange links, and do not provide personal information to any individual or website of unknown origin.
Specifically, users should only download applications from the Apple Store (for iPhone users) or Google Play (for Android users). And if they notice any suspicious activity, they should report the account of an unknown user so that the administrators can take timely action.
