On March 13, the Hanoi People's Committee sent a document to the Prime Minister requesting to adjust the time to put into operation the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway project into August this year, instead of the end of 2022 as planned.

Accordingly, to commercially exploit the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro project, the city plans to complete the CP5 package at the Depot area in May 2023 and the work group for acceptance, handover and system safety certification in August 2023.

At the same time, relevant units also organized a trial operation phase for 57 operation and maintenance scenarios according to the train schedule of 3 shifts/day, 7 days/week, this period is expected to last for 8 weeks, starting from May 2023 to June 2023.

Previously, in August 2022, during a working session with Hanoi City and related units, the Prime Minister requested the completion of the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station by the end of 2022 and to study and find solutions to shorten at least half the time to complete the underground section compared to the consultant's proposal of 2027.

It is known that the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro line started construction in September 2010 with a total investment of 18,408 billion VND and is expected to be completed in 2016. The length of this urban railway line is 12.5km; including 8.5km above ground and 4km underground. It passes through the districts: Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem. The Deport is located in Nhon with an area of 15ha.

However, after 13 years of implementation, the project progress has only reached about 75% and the total investment has increased from more than 18,000 billion VND to more than 34,000 billion VND.

According to the Master Plan for Capital Construction to 2030 and vision to 2050, the urban railway network includes 8 lines with a total length of 318km.

- Route 1: Ngoc Hoi - Yen Vien - Nhu Quynh, about 38.7km long.
