On March 10th, Shingmark University Medical Center (Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province) reported that they had just treated a male patient who had a fishhook lodged in his anus.
Previously, a 40-year-old male patient from Dong Nai province was admitted to the hospital with anal pain and a foreign object palpable in the anus, which he was unable to remove.

Through examination and paraclinical tests, doctors discovered a foreign object, a fishhook, deeply embedded in the anus, 2-3 cm from the anal margin, which could not be removed endoscopically.
According to the patient, they had previously eaten fish stomachs. Doctors said it is possible that the fish stomach contained a fish hook that entered the patient's body through ingestion.
The doctors decided to perform emergency surgery, successfully removing the foreign object without damaging the anal sphincter or perforating the rectum.
After two days of observation, the patient recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
