Continuing the glorious tradition in the two resistance wars against France and the US, throughout history, the Party Committee, government and people of Luong Son district have always been united, dynamic and creative in building an increasingly innovative homeland.

Going back in history, it can be seen that during the years of resistance, cadres and people of all ethnic groups in Luong Son district did not hesitate to sacrifice and work hard, focusing their forces day and night on both production and combat service. The district Party Committee issued Resolution No. 04, determining: "Strive to build socialism, develop the economy in conjunction with the task of strengthening national defense and security, preparing for the people's war, providing human and material support to the South under any conditions...". According to statistics, during the resistance war against the US, the whole district had 7,452 young people joining the army. Many fought on the battlefields of the Fatherland and performed international missions in Laos and Cambodia. The whole district had 4,873 people who contributed to the revolution, including 21 heroic Vietnamese mothers, 521 martyrs (1 hero of the armed forces); 151 relatives who are fathers, mothers, and wives of martyrs; 370 people worshiping martyrs; 193 war invalids, 105 sick soldiers, 1 person with meritorious services to the country; 265 people who participated in the resistance war and had children infected with toxic chemicals; 9 people who participated in the revolution before the August Revolution in 1945; 3,715 people who participated in the resistance war and were awarded medals.
A typical example of the feat of arms of the people and army of Luong Son district was on the night of December 21, 1972, when an American F111 aircraft was discovered to have been hit by a bullet in Hanoi and crashed at Bu hill (former Hop Hoa commune - now Cao Son commune). The district military force promptly directed the army and militia of the communes to close the encirclement, hunt down and capture the pilot. On December 29, 1972, the enemy mobilized hundreds of tactical aircraft to bomb and attack fiercely around the area. A group of helicopters landed on Bu hill to rescue the pilot... Our forces immediately spread a dense anti-aircraft fire net, repelling the jet group, shooting down an enemy helicopter on the spot and capturing two pilot pilots.
With great achievements and contributions in two arduous and fierce resistance wars as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the Party Committee and people of Luong Son district have been awarded many noble titles by the Party and the State: 3 Third-class Labor Medals, 3 Third-class Military Exploit Medals, 4 Third-class Military Exploit Medals, 2 Resistance Medals (First and Second Class)... On August 22, 1998, Luong Son district was honored to be awarded the title of Heroic Unit of the People's Armed Forces by the Party and the State.
Awakening and illuminating the heroic tradition in building the homeland, after many efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the people working together to build, now, the appearance of Luong Son town is gradually appearing. The administrative office area, schools, and hospitals are spacious. The roads to the communes and hamlets are wide open. In recent years, exploiting the advantage of being the gateway district of the province adjacent to the capital Hanoi, with many key traffic routes passing through... the district has become the economic driving force of the province with the strength of developing industry, trade, services, and resorts.
Resolution of the 26th Congress of the Party Committee of Luong Son district sets the goal: "Mobilizing resources, focusing on building Luong Son district to meet the criteria of a type IV urban area, striving to achieve the criteria of a town-level administrative unit by 2025". Accordingly, the district focuses on mobilizing all resources to invest in urban infrastructure; rural infrastructure has changed dramatically with the gradual urbanization of rural areas.
Up to now, the district has 3 industrial parks (IPs), of which Luong Son IP has been 100% filled, has 39 operating enterprises, creating jobs for over 15,000 workers; Nhuan Trach IP is investing in infrastructure construction, with an area of over 213 hectares; continuing to call for investment in infrastructure of Nam Luong Son IP with an area of over 203 hectares. In addition, the district has 2 industrial clusters that have been established and are being implemented.
The economy continues to develop, the structure shifts in a positive direction. In particular, investment attraction has improved. Up to now, the district has attracted 219 projects, including 23 FDI projects, with a total registered capital of 304 million USD; 196 domestic projects, with a total registered capital of over 30,000 billion VND. Many projects have contributed to creating a new look for urban and rural areas...
In 2023, the district's total production value growth rate will reach 15.3%; total export value will reach 730 million USD; average income per capita will reach 60 million VND; and the poverty rate will be 0.56%.
Implementing the New Rural Development Program with many important results, Luong Son was recognized as a new rural district in 2019. Up to now, urban technical infrastructure has been invested in renovation; upgraded and built many new urban roads; residential areas have full items of sidewalks, drainage ditches, lighting, trees; public works systems have been invested in construction... In the near future, Luong Son will become a town, the pride of Hoa Binh .
