With the theme "From Oneself to Another: Loneliness and Solidarity in European Literature," the European Literature Days 2026 will take place from May 6 to 17 in Hanoi , Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City.

A diverse program takes place in all three cities, including talks, poetry readings, creative writing workshops, book exhibitions in collaboration with the Frankfurt Book Fair…

Unique contemporary European literary voices

Five European writers are present in Vietnam, bringing unique literary voices to the table.

German playwright and novelist Sasha Marianna Salzmann and novelist Miku Sophie Kühmel offer perspectives shaped by questions of identity, history, and intimacy.

From the United Kingdom, Rebecca Watson explores the inner world and emotional disconnect through innovative prose that is strikingly formal.

Austrian writer Peter Simon Altmann reflects on loneliness and displacement through narratives shaped by years of traveling between Europe and East Asia.

French writer and traveler Thibault Clemenceau offers a perspective rooted in travel, encounters, and vibrant connections across continents.

Over ten days, these writers, along with several Vietnamese authors, translators, critics, publishers, and readers, participated in conversations, readings, creative writing workshops, and performances across three cities. The series of events revolved around the theme of loneliness.
