Why did Ho Chi Minh City drop in the rankings?

The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City speaks out about the city ranking 20th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in the 2024 high school graduation exam scores.

For eight consecutive years, Ho Chi Minh City has topped the list in English exam scores.

Ho Chi Minh City has an average English score of 6.73, a slight decrease but still leading the country, while Hanoi has dropped in rank. The top 10 localities with the highest average English scores nationwide are all familiar names. The top two positions are still held by Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong with 6.73 and 6.65 points respectively, a slight decrease compared to last year. With this result, Ho Chi Minh City has ranked first nationwide in the high school graduation exam for the English subject for the eighth consecutive year.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Hanoi ranked 3rd and 4th respectively, swapping positions compared to last year. The remaining names in the top 10 include Da Nang, Vinh Phuc, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh , Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh. Candidates from these provinces all had an average English score of 5.83 or higher.

Out of 906,500 students who took the English exam in this year's high school graduation exam, 565 achieved a perfect score, while 145 received failing grades (1 or below).

Nearly 42.7% of the test scores were below average, a decrease of about 2% compared to last year. The average score achieved by candidates was 5.51, slightly higher than last year by about 0.06 points.

Hanoi is not among the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest average math scores.

Among the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest average scores in Mathematics in the 2024 high school graduation exam, Nam Dinh ranked first, while Hai Phong was at the bottom of the list.

This year's list doesn't include Hanoi, but it does include several other localities such as Ninh Binh, Ha Nam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, etc.

Specifically, the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest average scores in Mathematics in the 2024 high school graduation exam are: Nam Dinh, Binh Duong, Bac Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Phuc, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, and Hai Phong.

Vinh Phuc tops the list of exam scores for Group C.

According to the analysis of high school graduation exam scores published by the Ministry of Education and Training, which compiles statistics on provinces and cities with the highest average scores in the C00 subject combination nationwide, Vinh Phuc continues to lead this year with an average score of 23.42 points in the C00 subject combination, nearly 2 points higher than last year.

The 2nd and 3rd positions remain unchanged, held by Ninh Binh (23.4) and Nam Dinh (23.08). The top 5 localities with the highest average scores in the C00 subject group also include Phu Tho and Bac Ninh.
