A few days ago, Malaysia had an excellent 1-1 draw with the world’s 72nd ranked team Cape Verde. However, in the rematch last night (June 3), the “Tigers” could not repeat that achievement.

The difference in class between the two teams was evident. Malaysia, a team 59 places below Cape Verde in the FIFA rankings, failed to cause any surprises. After 90 minutes of play, the Southeast Asian team suffered a 0-3 defeat.
Notably, compared to the draw with Cape Verde a few days ago, Malaysia also added a few naturalized players such as Hector Hevel (Portimonense, Portugal) or Facundo Garces (Alaves, Spain), but they could not maintain their form.
Not much is known about the match, which will be held behind closed doors to ensure professionalism. Malaysia needs to keep information confidential before the match against Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10.
Dailon Livramento was the hero for Cape Verde in this match, contributing a double. The remaining goal for the African team was scored by Heriberto Tavares.

Before the match with the Vietnamese team, coach Peter Cklamovski and his team expressed their great desire to break the 10-year streak of not being able to defeat the Vietnamese team. In fact, during this training session, Malaysia played big by welcoming many naturalized players playing in Europe such as Gabriel Palmero, Facundo Garces (Spain), Hector Hevel (Portugal).
However, Malaysia also encountered certain problems when the new players did not have much time to integrate into the team. Coach Peter Cklamovski even admitted that he did not have much information about the team's newly naturalized players.
This is Malaysia’s last friendly match before the decisive match against Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium. The team that wins this match will have a better chance of winning the only ticket in Group F to participate in Asia’s number one football tournament at the national team level.
