Marcus Rashford is currently only a reserve player at Barcelona and doesn't get many opportunities to play. However, upon returning to the national team, the 28-year-old striker was given a starting chance by coach Thomas Tuchel in the friendly match between England and Uruguay on the morning of March 28th.
Responding to manager Tuchel's trust, Rashford delivered an impressive performance. According to statistics, the striker, currently on loan at Barca from Manchester United, created one chance, recovered the ball four times, made two successful tackles out of four, and successfully dribbled six out of nine times in the 69 minutes he was on the pitch.
According to statistics from Opta, this was Rashford's most successful dribbles for England since November 2018, when he successfully completed 7 dribbles in the match against Croatia.
Witnessing Rashford's performance, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick was full of admiration: "He has matured so much: Sharp, confident and always ready."
Rashford deserves a starting place at the World Cup. England are lacking a winger who can beat defenders and carry the ball well. I hope Rashford maintains this form."
Notably, Rashford was in good form for England at a time when Barcelona had just lost Raphinha for over a month due to an injury sustained in Brazil's defeat to France in the USA.
Therefore, manager Hansi Flick may give Rashford a chance to replace Raphinha in April, notably in the three matches against Atletico Madrid in La Liga and the Champions League.
According to Sport , manager Hansi Flick is considering Rashford, Olmo, Fermin Lopez, or Ferran Torres to replace Raphinha in attack alongside Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal for the next five weeks.
