According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , from 2025 to the present, the whole country has recorded many deaths due to rabies, including 77 cases in 2025 and 30 cases from the beginning of 2026. Lam Dong province alone has had 13 cases of rabid dogs biting people and is among the 12 provinces and cities at high risk of this disease outbreak.

To proactively control the disease outbreak, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to take the lead in coordinating and strictly managing the dog and cat population; strengthening vaccination programs and monitoring and strictly handling any outbreaks that occur. Pet owners must strictly comply with regulations on reporting, keeping pets confined within family premises, muzzling them, and having someone accompany them to public places.

The Department of Health is responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of rabies vaccines and antiserum for those exposed to the virus. In particular, authorities will strictly penalize organizations and individuals who arbitrarily treat rabies using unapproved methods such as traditional medicine or herbal remedies.

Simultaneously, the police, military, and local authorities will strengthen control and strictly handle the transportation, trading, and slaughter of dogs and cats of unknown origin or those that are smuggled in.

The Provincial People's Committee requires the Chairpersons of the People's Committees at the commune level to be held responsible if they neglect management, resulting in low vaccination rates or delays in handling outbreaks, thereby increasing the risk of disease transmission to humans. People who are bitten or scratched by dogs or cats should go to a medical facility for timely advice and vaccination.
