Mbappe defends Yamal: 'Leave him alone'

Kylian Mbappe called on the public to stop prying into Lamine Yamal's private life, while giving special praise to the young Barcelona talent in the Universo Valdano program on Movistar Plus+.

The Real Madrid star appeared in an interview filmed at the France national team's training base. While the full show will not air until Sunday, Movistar Plus+ released some snippets that caught the attention of fans.

“He clearly has a passion for football – and that’s the most important thing. The rest is his personal life. We have to leave him alone,” Mbappe said of Yamal. “On the pitch, he’s a great player; off the pitch, he’s just an 18-year-old. At that age, everyone makes mistakes. Let time teach him what’s right. The only thing that matters is what he does on the pitch.”

The French striker also affirmed that Yamal possesses "great talent and his own path", and wished his junior "all the best in his upcoming career".

In another part of the conversation, Mbappe mentioned his relationship with Vinicius Jr., his teammate who is leading the Real Madrid attack with him. The former PSG star denied any rumors of a conflict between the two stars: “Two famous players playing for the same team - that always gives the press something to write about. But the truth is that I have a very good relationship with Vinicius, even better than last year because we understand each other better.”

Mbappe added: “He is a great player and a great person. We have the same goal: to help Real Madrid win titles. If we want to win titles, we both have to play at the highest level.”

The French star concluded with a confident smile: “If one day there is a serious problem between us, I will say so. But not now. This is just part of the life of a famous Real Madrid player.”
