Hue's paper quilling paintings are loved not only for their skillful techniques but also for the harmony of colors and shapes, creating an attractive "visual symphony".
With a passion for the art of paper twisting, Ms. Chu Thi Hue (34 years old, living in Le Loi ward, Kon Tum province) truly "breathes life" into small, lifeless and ordinary paper fibers, turning them into fascinating works of art.
The art of paper quilling is not a new form in the world but is still quite strange in Vietnam. With just colorful strips of paper and a little meticulousness, a little time, a little patience, anyone can do quilling by themselves, but to create products that make everyone fascinated is not easy.
Ms. Hue's paper quilling paintings are extremely attractive because of the cheerful colors that are combined delicately and very soulful.
Having learned the basic techniques of this subject, Ms. Hue was quickly fascinated and decided to explore and research how to create unique works, starting from simple shapes such as butterfly wings, flower petals to complex paintings. What is special about her quilling paintings is the harmonious combination of colors and shapes, creating an attractive visual symphony.
Hue said: "I had the opportunity to learn this subject more than 6 years ago. I learned the basic techniques from a paper quilling card making facility, and after half a month, I was able to receive cards to make at home. I had been working for 1-2 years when the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. At the peak of the pandemic, the company's goods were stagnant, and everyone had to quarantine at home. Because I had so much free time, I went online to look at the paper quilling cards they made, then drew and twisted them myself."
At first, Ms. Hue's drawings were not good, so the finished products were not as satisfactory as expected. After that, she printed the pictures she liked and then twisted the paper to save time. At first, her skills were weak, she had no experience, and the products were not polished, but the modest results still made her more passionate. Hue printed many pictures, and whenever she had free time or an idea, she started working on them.
Ms. Chu Thi Hue has been passionate about quilling paper for 6 years.
Ms. Chu Thi Hue admits to having some talent for painting. When she was young, she often drew pictures for her teachers to help them with their teaching. She did not attend any formal classes or training courses, she simply loved to draw.
Regarding quilling, Ms. Hue said that the simplest picture is completed in 2-3 days, some pictures take up to several months because she cannot find the most perfect idea for the product.
"To make a quilling painting, first you have to look at the printed blank to identify which is the main part and which is the secondary part. For the main part, you need to pay attention to the most prominent parts to focus on. Choose colors that match the blank, use wire to wrap the border first, then start twisting and creating lines, then use glue to fix those details, and so on until the painting is complete." Ms. Hue gives detailed instructions on the steps to create a quilling painting.
Once she had the products she liked, Hue took pictures and posted them on her personal Facebook, then on groups, and received a "shower" of compliments and many messages of interest in the products. Thanks to that, she had her first orders and over time, more and more people knew and supported her.

I want my paintings to have their own mark with impressive characteristics, not to be confused with any other author" , the girl from Kon Tum shared.
