On March 7, in an interview with CNN , Facebook's head of application operations, Tom Alison, said that the social network is testing the possibility of re-integrating the Messenger messaging application on the Facebook application.
The reason Meta (Facebook's parent company) made this decision is to make it easier for users to share content on this social network, without having to switch to a separate messaging app.

“ What sets Facebook and Instagram apart from other social media platforms is how users start conversations with their friends through sharing content,” says Alison.
The test comes as Facebook seeks to strengthen its position against fierce competition from TikTok.
Last year, Facebook revamped its growth strategy amid concerns about its aging user base and its failure to attract young people. Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook, wanted the social network to become a “ discovery tool” rather than simply an application to connect friends and family.
Nine years ago, Facebook turned users away by splitting its messaging feature into a separate app. Now Meta is reversing that decision as Facebook faces threats from other social media platforms.
Facebook has also redesigned its home feed to feature more interesting posts from Meta’s various digital platforms, with the goal of keeping users engaged longer and helping the platform better compete with TikTok and its steady stream of recommended content.
“That shift is starting to pay off,” Alison told CNN , adding that the social network is on track to hit 2 billion active users by the fourth quarter of 2022.
There have been many rumors about Facebook’s decline over the years, from the social network admitting that it is no longer attractive enough to young people to competition from TikTok and its “brother” Instagram. However, after nearly 20 years, this social network is still growing.
