Messi is pure magic

When asked to describe Lionel Messi in three words, Zinedine Zidane said: "Perhaps I only need one word, and that is magic." The former French star showered Messi with praise in a recent interview.

Zidane believes that he and Messi share a similar mindset on the pitch. Therefore, the former Real Madrid star regrets never having had the chance to play alongside his younger Argentine teammate.

"For me, today is an important day because I can tell Messi that I admire him greatly. Messi truly has magic, a pure kind of magic. Before receiving the ball, he already knows what to do next. I think I have a connection with Messi. Because when I watch him play on the field, I can almost predict what Messi will do," Zidane shared.

Messi also expressed great respect for the French legend: “ For me, Zidane is one of the greatest players in history. I had a lot of difficulties whenever I faced Real Madrid. He was a completely different kind of player with perfect skills and the elegance of a gentleman on the pitch.”

Then, Zidane asked Messi if the most important goal of his career was the one in the World Cup final. The Argentine superstar replied: “Both you and I can be proud of that moment. A beautiful pass in the World Cup final was enough to make me happy.”

Sharing his biggest regret, Messi said: “I have no regrets about the path I’ve taken. There have been both joys and sorrows. If I could choose to replay one match, it would probably be the 2014 World Cup final. It still leaves me with many regrets.”

Before concluding the conversation, Messi, on behalf of Zidane, sent a message to the younger generation of players: “We are fortunate to have come this far on the path we have chosen.
