According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, today (May 31st), the northern and north-central regions of Vietnam will experience localized heatwaves with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in some areas at 1 PM.

The forecast for June 1st indicates hot weather in the western mountainous areas of provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue, with maximum temperatures generally ranging from 35-36 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in some places. The lowest relative humidity will generally be between 50-55%.

From June 2nd, the Northern Delta region and southern Phu Tho province will experience widespread heatwaves with maximum temperatures commonly reaching 35-36 degrees Celsius, and exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in some areas, while the lowest relative humidity will generally range from 50-55%.

On June 2nd, the northern and central regions of Vietnam also experienced hot weather, with some areas experiencing intense heat. The highest temperatures were generally 35-37 degrees Celsius, with some places exceeding 37 degrees Celsius, and the lowest relative humidity was generally 45-50%.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting predicts that this heatwave in the North and Central regions may last for several days.

However, in the North, from June 2nd onwards, scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the late afternoon and evening, with localized moderate to heavy rainfall.

Thanks to thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, this heatwave in the North is not as intense as the period from May 22-28.

Although not extremely intense, meteorological agencies are still warning of a stuffy, humid feeling with actual temperatures much higher than forecast temperatures during midday and afternoon hours in the upcoming hot days, especially in the inner city of Hanoi, which is affected by the urban heat island effect.

In the central region, the meteorological agency is paying special attention to the risk of forest fires due to the combined effects of hot weather, strong winds, and low humidity.

In addition, hot weather can cause dehydration in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.

The UV index in Northern and Central Vietnam will also be very high in the coming days, posing a significant health risk. People should apply sunscreen, wear sun-protective clothing, wear wide-brimmed hats, drink plenty of water, and limit prolonged direct exposure to sunlight.
