According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (June 23), scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Northern, Central, Central Highlands, and Southern regions, with localized heavy rain. Rainfall amounts from 0:00 to 14:00 may exceed 50mm in some areas, such as: Dam Ha (Quang Ninh) 83.6mm, Hai Duong (Nam Dinh) 72.2mm, Minh Hop ( Nghe An ) 59.8mm, Nong Cong (Thanh Hoa) 59.6mm, Khe Tre (Thua Thien Hue) 59.4mm, Mo Rai (Kon Tum) 64.6mm, etc.

This evening and tonight, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue in Northern and Central Vietnam, with localized heavy rain, with rainfall amounts ranging from 20-40mm, and in some places exceeding 90mm.

Notably, from tomorrow evening (June 24th) until June 26th, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur in the Northern and North Central regions, with some areas experiencing very heavy rain. Rainfall amounts are expected to be 70-150mm, with some areas exceeding 250mm in the Northern region, and 50-100mm, with some areas exceeding 200mm in the North Central region.

The regional meteorological and hydrological station of the Northern Delta and midland region also forecasts that, due to the influence of a low-pressure trough combined with increasingly strong upper-level wind convergence, Hanoi will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms this evening and tonight, with some areas experiencing heavy rain; rainfall amounts will generally range from 15-30mm, with some areas exceeding 50mm.

Specifically, from tomorrow evening until the 26th, Hanoi will experience moderate to heavy rain in some areas, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind; the total rainfall will generally be 50-100mm, with some areas exceeding 150mm.

Additionally, the Central region of Vietnam will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms from tonight until June 27th, with localized heavy rain in the late afternoon and evening. In the Central Highlands and Southern Vietnam, thunderstorms are expected to decrease from June 25th, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.

The meteorological agency warns that during thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Heavy and localized heavy rainfall may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes, and flooding in low-lying areas.

In the Northern region, from Thanh Hoa to Binh Dinh, following the heavy rains mentioned above, widespread heatwaves are likely to occur from around June 28-29.
