Contributing significantly to this success are Mitsubishi's two flagship models: the Xpander and the Xforce. The B-segment CUV Xforce quickly dominated the market after its launch, with 2,504 units sold in August alone, accounting for 51% of the segment's market share. This is a record number since Mitsubishi began delivering the Xforce in March 2024, putting it far ahead of its competitor, the Toyota Yaris Cross (927 units).
After 6 years in Vietnam, the Xpander is considered Mitsubishi's most successful model, with total sales reaching 100,000 units.
As of the end of August, the cumulative sales of the Xforce for 2024 had reached 8,182 units, placing it among the best-selling vehicles in its segment, behind only the Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Xpander. With this impressive growth momentum, the Xforce is highly likely to become the "king" in the B-segment CUV market this year.
Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Xpander, an MPV model that has been available in Vietnam since 2018, continues to maintain its strong performance, although it is no longer as popular as before. In August, Xpander sold 1,003 units, ranking 6th on the list of best-selling cars of the month.
The Mitsubishi Xforce is highly likely to claim the top spot as the B-segment CUV this year.
Cumulative sales of the Xpander in the first eight months of the year reached 10,268 units, a decrease of 16.3% compared to the same period in 2023, but it still maintained its second position in terms of sales volume across the entire market.
2024 not only marked a booming year for Mitsubishi in Vietnam, but also recorded many other important milestones. This year, in addition to the launch of the Xforce, the company also introduced the new version of the Triton pickup truck, and the Xpander reached sales of 100,000 units after 6 years since its launch.
With a market share of 18.1%, Mitsubishi has risen to second place in the overall market, behind only Hyundai. Mitsubishi's cumulative retail sales in Vietnam up to August 2024 reached 254,968 units, while the company's cumulative assembly production was 74,128 units.
