The tournament, organized by Dan Tri newspaper in collaboration with PICKFAIR, marks an important step forward in the application of AI and image analysis technology to improve the professionalism and fairness of pickleball in Vietnam.

Pickleball - a sport combining tennis, table tennis and badminton - has witnessed explosive growth in Vietnam in recent years. From community playgrounds, pickleball has developed into professional tournaments with the participation of top athletes. However, this rapid development also poses challenges regarding professionalism, fairness and quality in tournaments.
Currently, most pickleball tournaments in Vietnam still rely on the referee's naked eye to make decisions. This leads to many controversial situations due to the high speed of the ball, complex trajectory, and frequent errors such as the ball touching the line, double bounce or foot fault. The increasing number of controversial situations spreading on social networks has significantly affected the image of the tournament, the spirit of the players and the trust of the audience.
To overcome these limitations, developed pickleball communities such as the US and Canada have quickly adopted technology to support referees, analyze professional data and ensure fairness and transparency in competition. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, although pickleball is developing rapidly, there is still no unit providing specialized technology solutions for this sport.
Faced with this situation, MK Vision offers a specialized VAR technology solution for pickleball, applying artificial intelligence to analyze match situations. The system includes outstanding features such as: accurately determining whether the ball is in or out of the field; detecting foot faults and double bounces; automatically recording controversial situations; allowing referees to review situations immediately.

The entire technology was developed by a team of Vietnamese engineers, helping to optimize costs and flexibly customize for each tournament. This system was successfully applied at the Hanoi Basketball Championship 2025 with 149 situations reviewed out of a total of 41 matches.
