Mo Cay Nam develops industrial and handicraft production facilities

BDK - By the end of the first quarter of 2025, industrial and handicraft production activities in Mo Cay Nam district continued to develop quite well. The estimated value of industrial and handicraft production reached 1,895 billion VND (2010 comparable price), up 17.52% over the same period and reaching 25.76% of the plan.

Organic coconuts are purchased by businesses at prices 5 - 20% higher than market prices.

The district continues to pay attention to developing enterprises and industrial and handicraft production establishments in the area; up to now, 63 enterprises have been developed, including private enterprises, 68 limited liability companies and 2 company branches. 37 new production establishments have been developed, bringing the number of enterprises and industrial and handicraft production establishments in the whole district to 2,144, with a total registered capital of 168.5 billion VND.

In general, the production of handicrafts and handicrafts increased compared to the same period last year. The main products and commodities increased such as: animal feed, aquatic feed, coconut processed products (coconut fiber and handicraft products, coconut candy...).

* The district currently has a coconut area of ​​16,740 hectares, reaching 102.1% of the annual plan, reaching 99.5% compared to the same period. Of which, the area of ​​coconut gardens with effective intercropping and intercropping systems reaches 6,140 hectares.

Implementing the replication of effective economic models associated with the completion of the agricultural development model according to the value chain, the district is currently continuing to develop organic coconut gardens, linking with enterprises according to the value chain from production to processing and consumption. Up to now, the whole district has over 7,190 coconut gardens implementing organic farming processes, with a total area of ​​6,291.08 hectares, an increase of 515 gardens, an area of ​​394.28 hectares compared to 2023. Of which, 6,337 gardens are certified as organic, with a total area of ​​5,451.48 hectares, reaching 32.56% of the total coconut garden area of ​​the district.

Many enterprises have cooperated with 15 cooperatives in the area to purchase coconuts and coconut meat at prices 5-20% higher than the market price. Enterprises have purchased organic coconuts for people under contracts with cooperatives and groups with a purchase output of over 3.8 million fruits/month.
