Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee today (April 18) had a working session with Can Tho Provincial leaders, relevant departments, some tourism businesses of the two localities and airline representatives.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hanh, the key task is to urgently build a passenger and cargo transport route between Van Don International Airport and Can Tho International Airport.
The opening of this flight route facilitates the transportation of goods from the South to the North, reduces costs, and creates advantages for Mekong Delta products to access the Chinese market most quickly and effectively based on the strategic transport infrastructure that Quang Ninh province and Can Tho city already have. At the same time, it promotes logistics development in Quang Ninh.
To date, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has granted Vietjet Air permission to open a route between Tra Noc (Can Tho) and Van Don (Quang Ninh). The airline plans to operate this route from April 25, with three flights per week.
Van Don International Airport has signed a franchise contract with 4 transport business units to use 27 means of transport to pick up and drop off passengers in the port area. In addition, there are other means of transport near the port ready to serve passengers when necessary.
Tourism businesses in Quang Ninh province have built a number of tourism product packages, with 4 or 5 options, to serve tourists from Can Tho city to Quang Ninh province.
After the meeting, the People's Committees of the two localities agreed to propose that the Department of Tourism of Quang Ninh and Can Tho be the focal point for planning specific tourist market development for each flight. This includes designing tours, destinations, accommodations, culinary experiences and typical services of the two localities, creating attractive discount combo packages.
In addition, trade and tourism fairs will be held once a year in two localities and attract neighboring localities to participate.
