In order to implement key solutions for developing the domestic market as directed by the Government, on August 22nd, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Industry and Trade , in coordination with the Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (VITAS) and the Vietnam Leather, Footwear and Handbag Association (LEFASO), organized the conference "Developing the Domestic Market for the Textile, Garment and Leather and Footwear Industries".
This is an important activity in the series of programs to promote the consumption of Vietnamese goods, and at the same time affirms the determination to effectively exploit the potential of the domestic market.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Director of the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade), emphasized that focusing on exploiting the domestic market not only helps businesses stabilize their output but also helps consumers access products manufactured by reputable businesses that meet global standards.
In particular, given the difficulties faced by exports to major markets such as the US, EU, South Korea, and China, effectively exploiting the domestic market is considered a strategic approach to maintaining stable production and promoting sustainable growth.
According to the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development, in recent times, many programs connecting supply and demand and supporting businesses in developing distribution channels, especially through e-commerce, have been widely implemented. Along with this is the positive response to the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, contributing to bringing domestic goods closer to consumers.
With the participation of over 100 delegates representing units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, local Departments of Industry and Trade, e-commerce platforms, associations, textile and garment businesses, footwear businesses, etc., the conference focused on three main contents: discussion session; open dialogue session and exhibition area.
During the discussion session, delegates focused on assessing the current state of the textile, garment, and footwear industries in the process of exploiting the domestic market, thereby clearly identifying the opportunities as well as the challenges and difficulties that still exist.
This also serves as a forum for businesses and associations to share successful models and experiences in brand building and developing domestic distribution systems.

During the open dialogue session, delegates exchanged ideas and proposed many practical solutions to develop the domestic market for these two key industries, aiming for sustainable development.
At the exhibition area, textile and footwear businesses showcased their typical products, thereby creating opportunities for direct connection between businesses and consumers, contributing to brand promotion and enhancing the image of Vietnamese goods.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with a population of over 100 million people, domestic consumption in 2024 is estimated to reach 5-5.5 billion USD for textiles and garments and approximately 1 billion USD for footwear. This shows a growing demand for high-quality products, opening up significant opportunities for Vietnamese businesses.
