Today, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense , chaired a meeting to deploy foreign affairs work on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.

Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien said that the Vietnamese Minister of National Defense has sent invitations to the Ministers of National Defense of 8 countries (Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Cuba, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan) to attend the celebration; at the same time, invited 5 countries (Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Belarus) to send forces to participate in the parade at the celebration.

So far, Cuba has responded to the invitation. Cuba said that the Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces will attend the celebration.

Laos and Cambodia also said they support the policy of sending forces to participate in the parade at the anniversary celebration at the invitation of Vietnam.

The Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense's invitation to five countries to send troops to participate in the parade at the anniversary is an activity demonstrating the traditional friendship, solidarity and attachment between the people and the Vietnam People's Army with traditional friendly countries. At the same time, it affirms Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of international relations, and being a friend and reliable partner with other countries.

The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2nd was organized by the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Hanoi City, to affirm the great historical value of the event and strengthen confidence in the Party's leadership role.

The event also contributesto educating the tradition of patriotism, arousing the spirit of national solidarity, self-reliance and aspiration for national development.

As planned, the celebration will take place at 6:30 a.m. on September 2 at Ba Dinh Square and some central streets of Hanoi. About 30,000 people are expected to attend (not including the parade and marching forces).

The specific program of the celebration, parade, and march includes: Traditional torch procession; Flag salute ceremony; announcement of reason, introduction of delegates; speeches by Party and State leaders; parade program; and concluding art performance.

To prepare for the celebration, parade, and march, there will be a preliminary rehearsal at 9:00 p.m. on August 27 (reserve for August 28); a general rehearsal at 7:00 a.m. on August 30 (reserve for August 31).
