The patient, NVS (28 years old), is an employee of a resort in An Thoi ward, Phu Quoc city. At around 9:30 p.m. on December 18, while working at the resort, Mr. S was bitten by a snake on his left hand.
Colleagues gave first aid to Mr. S and beat the snake to death. Afterwards, everyone took Mr. S and the snake's body to the SOS Phu Quoc clinic for emergency treatment.

After receiving the patient, through examination, the doctors found that the patient had swelling in the bite area, blood pressure was initially stable but then the oxygen concentration in the blood gradually decreased.
SOS Clinic conducted an emergency remote consultation with a doctor from the Department of Venomous Snake Bite Treatment (Dong Tam Snake Farm) and determined that the snake that bit Mr. S was a krait. This is an extremely venomous snake that can cause muscle paralysis and coma when bitten, and there is currently no specific antidote.
"We contacted medical facilities to find a multi-strain serum but there was none. At the same time, through consultation, we learned that this is a very poisonous snake. In some cases, the venom will develop after 2-3 days, leading to death. So we monitored the patient overnight and treated the symptoms to transfer the patient to Cho Ray Hospital this morning to prevent poisoning," said Mr. Khai.
