De Ligt did not appear in the final.

Coach Ruben Amorim finalized the MU squad for the big match against Spurs in Bilbao, with De Ligt and Martinez being two important names not included in the flight to Spain.

De Ligt has been struggling to recover from an injury sustained against Brentford earlier this month. Although the problem is not serious, the Dutch centre-back has been sidelined for games against Athletic Club, West Ham and Chelsea, and now has to miss the biggest game of the season.

Meanwhile, Martinez is certain to be absent due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury from the match against Crystal Palace in February, which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Despite suffering a major loss in defense, the "Red Devils" received good news from the attack when Joshua Zirkzee was unexpectedly named, despite coach Amorim previously announcing that the Dutch striker would be out for the rest of the season. In addition, two defenders Diogo Dalot and Leny Yoro also made the trip.

Dalot has had a calf problem since the 0-1 loss to Wolves on April 20, while Yoro was injured in the 0-2 loss to West Ham on May 11.

Young striker Chido Obi was not included in the squad due to UEFA regulations regarding his transfer from Arsenal last October.

On the other side of the front line, Tottenham suffered a heavy loss when many key players were absent due to injury. Coach Ange Postecoglou could not use James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski due to knee problems. Lucas Bergvall also suffered an ankle ligament injury.

The Europa League final promises to be a tense affair as both teams are determined to win the title to salvage a dismal domestic season.
