With Manchester United preparing to end their worst Premier League season in history, fans had high expectations that the club's management would bring in big signings to revive the team, with Victor Osimhen considered a leading candidate.
However, reliable journalist David Ornstein has just revealed shocking information: Osimhen is not in Manchester United's transfer plans.
According to Ornstein, although Osimhen is a prominent name on the market, Manchester United are not interested in the Nigerian striker. Instead, the top priority for manager Ruben Amorim and the club's leadership is Liam Delap, the young striker currently playing for Ipswich Town.
Delap (in the blue shirt) is on MU's radar. |
Speaking on NBC Sports Soccer, Ornstein shared: “In the striker position, Delap of Ipswich Town is Manchester United’s number one target. He has a £30 million release clause if Ipswich are relegated, which is almost certain to happen.” Besides Manchester United, Chelsea are also reportedly closely monitoring the young player.
Delap, a product of the Manchester City academy, has scored 12 goals in 31 games for Ipswich this season. Despite his young age, the striker is considered one of England's most promising forwards and could be signed ahead of the European U21 Championship.
According to Ornstein, if the Delap deal goes through, Manchester City will receive £6 million in profit from the 20% resale clause they included in the contract when they sold him to Ipswich for £20 million.
Additionally, Wolves' Matheus Cunha remains on United's watchlist, despite the player himself recently dismissing the speculation in an Instagram post, stating: "Too much noise."
