According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and early this morning (July 2), in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, there were scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall from 7:00 p.m. on July 1 to 3:00 a.m. on July 2 was over 50mm in some places, such as: Co Ma (Son La) 96.8mm, Pa Thom ( Dien Bien ) 59.6mm, Yen Dong (Ninh Binh) 61.6mm, Yen Thang (Thanh Hoa) 62mm, etc.
On July 2, in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 20-50mm, locally over 100mm. On the night of July 2, in the Northwest region and Thanh Hoa, there will be moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 15-40mm, locally over 80mm. Warning of the risk of local heavy rain (>100mm/6h).
In addition, during the day and night of July 2, the Central and Southern regions will have showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall of 10-30mm, some places experiencing over 70mm (rain concentrated in the afternoon and evening). From July 3, heavy rain in the North will gradually decrease. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain: level 1.
Heavy rains are likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes (real-time warning information on areas at risk of flash floods and landslides is provided online on the website of the Department of Hydrometeorology at: https://luquetsatlo.nchmf.gov.vn and in separate bulletins warning of flash floods and landslides).
In Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Lam Dong provinces, the risk of flash floods, landslides and subsidence due to heavy rain is being warned at a notable level.
Specifically, from 0:00 to 3:00 on July 2, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa areas had moderate to heavy rain, such as Chau Hong (Nghe An) recorded 52mm, Luong Son (Thanh Hoa) 38.2mm. Soil moisture in many places in this area has reached or approached the saturation threshold (over 85%), increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides on steep slopes. In the next 6 hours, the cumulative rainfall is expected to be from 10-30mm, in some places over 60mm. The disaster warning in this area is at level 1.
In Lam Dong, from 3:00 to 5:00 a.m. on July 2, many localities had heavy rain, such as Da M'ri 56mm, Quang Tan 53mm, Da Ploa 52.4mm. The soil moisture model in this locality also shows that many areas have reached a state of saturation. In the next 6 hours, rainfall may continue to reach 20-40mm, in some places over 70mm. The risk of flash floods and landslides is especially worrying in areas such as Da Huoai, Dam Rong, Cat Tien, Bao Lam, Da Ploa and some wards of Bao Loc city and Gia Nghia town.
Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides and land subsidence due to floods in level 1 provinces.
