Yonhap reported on September 21 that heavy rains since the night of September 20 across South Korea have caused landslides and floods. Due to the impact of heavy rains and floods, authorities announced that 506 people from 342 households in North Gyeongsang, South Gyeongsang provinces as well as Busan and South Chungcheong provinces have been evacuated.
Heavy rains also flooded dozens of roads and triggered landslides. Authorities were forced to temporarily close 38 roads in Gangwon and South Gyeongsang provinces and other areas, along with 41 underground routes, due to safety concerns.
Meanwhile, flooding has also affected production at many factories and 17 national parks nationwide. The Ministry of the Interior has raised the heavy rain warning level from “caution” to “alarm”.
