In Tan Lap village, Phuoc Giang commune, Quang Ngai province, many durian gardens are in full bloom. Vo Duy Quyen's garden has 144 trees, each tree produces 25 to 30 fruits, with yellow flesh and a distinctive sweetness. Quyen shared: " The fruit set rate this year is higher than every year. The quality of the rice is about 80%. Up to now, I see the effectiveness, my climate can also withstand durian trees and sweetness. Compared to everywhere, according to my brothers' assessment, the sweetness in my hometown, the quality of the rice, and the fruit are sweeter than everywhere else . "
Durian, a familiar tree in the South, has now taken root in Tan Lap village, Phuoc Giang commune. Thanks to the diligence in care and the seed source supported by the State, the durian gardens here bear fruit regularly. Not only is it the pride of farmers, durian in Phuoc Giang also opens up a new direction, contributing to increasing the economic value of the locality. Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien in Tan Lap village, Phuoc Giang commune, Quang Ngai province said: " Currently, the number of durians here that the gardeners produce ripe fruit at the same time, the quantity is very large. Besides, some gardens are growing in an organic direction " .
Phuoc Giang commune currently has more than 45 hectares of durian, many of which in Tan Lap village have affirmed their 3-star OCOP status. After 3 years of stable fruit production, durian trees are becoming a key crop, bringing high economic value to the people. This year, the yield is much higher thanks to the trees entering a stable stage and people are increasingly accumulating experience in care. The commune plans to continue expanding the area, developing specialized areas, while improving the quality and building the local durian brand.
Mr. Phan Cong Huan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Phuoc Giang Commune, Quang Ngai Province said: “ In the resolutions of the Party Committee of Phuoc Giang Commune for the 2025-2030 term, fruit tree development is also identified as one of the economic development models as well as restructuring the agricultural sector in Phuoc Giang Commune. The Commune also determined to consolidate the fruit tree areas to improve quality. At the same time, it is associated with the development of the 3-star brand recognized in the area ” .
On the fertile riverside land, Phuoc Giang durian trees open up hope for agricultural economic development, contributing to changing the local face.
