Drivers will find perforated black Ultrasuede® sport seats and yellow stitching on the steering wheel, brake levers and door panels. Brembo® brakes provide better stopping power, while SACHS shock absorbers provide superior stability while maintaining the GR86's agile character.

Customers can personalize their vehicle by adding accessories such as exhaust pipes with silver-plated tips with GR logo, and body kits specifically for the Yuzu version to express their own style. The GR86 will be available in three versions – GR86, GR86 Premium and GR86 Yuzu Edition .

All come with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmissions, and are powered by a 2.4L four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Last year, the GAZOO Racing engineering team tweaked the engine management system to enhance the driving experience. Some of the upgrades include retuned throttle sensitivity, additional engine torque control for smoother throttle response and improved control at all speeds.

All of these improvements will carry over to the 2026 model, along with the Performance Package available on the GR86 and GR86 Premium – standard on the Yuzu – which includes Brembo® brakes and SACHS shock absorbers.

High-pressure nitrogen-gas and oil-filled SACHS shock absorbers absorb vibrations across a wide speed range, maximizing traction and providing solid steering support while still ensuring road feel and ride comfort. Red Brembo brakes with 4-piston front and 2-piston rear calipers clamp large brake discs (12.8 x 1.3 inches front, 12.4 x 0.79 inches rear).

All GR86 models are packed with modern technology and conveniences while maintaining the traditional lightweight sports car identity. Weighing just 2,811 pounds (about 1,275 kg) for the manual, and 2,851 pounds (about 1,293 kg) for the automatic, the GR86 is one of the lightest sports cars Toyota has ever produced.

Aluminum hood, fenders, and roof help reduce weight. Details like structural adhesives in the chassis and seats that are 6 pounds (2.7 kg) lighter than the previous generation also contribute to the weight reduction for a more precise driving experience.

The naturally aspirated 2.4L FA-24 engine produces 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, reaching peak torque at 3,700 RPM, providing strong, responsive acceleration. 0-60 mph takes just 6.1 seconds (manual) and 6.6 seconds (automatic). Both versions feature a Torsen® limited-slip rear differential, which helps grip the road when cornering.

Traditional sports car enthusiasts will be pleased with the GR86's six-speed manual transmission. At the touch of a button, the driver can engage Track mode or disable the VSC stability control system. On the automatic, the transmission is equipped with an additional clutch disc and a high-performance torque converter for smoother power delivery.

Inside, the car has a low, driver-focused cockpit with a digital instrument cluster, push-button start, HVAC system with LED rotary knob, piano buttons, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio controls. The automatic transmission has paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The driver can choose Normal, Sport, or Snow driving modes. In Sport mode, the automatic transmission automatically selects the optimal gear based on braking, throttle, and vehicle behavior.

Active safety features are standard on all GR86 models. On the automatic, they include: automatic emergency braking, pre-collision throttle control, adaptive cruise control, lead vehicle departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and automatic high beams. The manual also has most of these features.

Additionally, the Toyota Star Safety System™ is also standard, including: Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), ABS, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Smart Stop Technology (SST), Track Mode and Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC).
