Once a highly promising signing, Mudryk is now just a source of regret for Chelsea fans.

Striker Mykhailo Mudryk is entering the biggest legal battle of his career after receiving a four-year ban from the English Football Association (FA) for doping-related issues. The Chelsea star has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), declaring that he will not let this decision end his career.

According to The Guardian , Mudryk was found to have traces of meldonium in his system after a doping test while on duty with the Ukrainian national team in November 2024. This substance, which can improve endurance, is on the banned list. Following the incident, the player born in 2001 was temporarily suspended and has not played an official match for Chelsea since November 2024.

If the ban is upheld, Mudryk will only be able to return to playing in December 2028. This means that the best years of his career will be almost completely erased.

The CAS confirmed receiving Mudryk's appeal in February of this year. The parties are currently exchanging documents in writing, while the hearing date has not yet been set. This will be the last chance for the former FC Shakhtar Donetsk star to overturn the verdict.

The Ukrainian player's recent move on X is also something that "The Blues" fans are interested in.

In a message released after the suspension, Mudryk expressed his despair but maintained his fighting spirit. He wrote: "Four years is like a death sentence when you've dedicated your whole life to football."

The winger recalled that Chelsea had spent €100 million to sign him on an eight-and-a-half-year contract, because he wanted to build "a real legacy in London." However, that dream is now in danger of collapsing after only 22 months of actually playing for the club.

Mudryk insists he did not intentionally use banned substances and never intended to cheat football, the fans, or Chelsea. The 25-year-old also said he has hired a strong legal team to fight the maximum penalty, which he considers "completely unjust."

The case is a major blow to both Mudryk and Chelsea. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge for a large fee, the Ukrainian player has not lived up to expectations but is still considered a long-term asset for the club. If he loses at CAS, his future in London will almost certainly be over.

Mudryk concluded his message with a defiant statement: "They can take away my time on the pitch, but they can't break my spirit. This isn't the end."

Mudryk's club, Chelsea, is going through a difficult period, having suffered five consecutive defeats in the Premier League, thus losing control of their destiny in the race for European qualification in the 2026/27 season. For Mudryk, this is truly the darkest period of his career after the high expectations he had when he first moved to the Premier League.
