Muller changed his mind: 'Messi is the GOAT'

Thomas Muller suddenly changed his mind about whether Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo is greater.

The former Bayern Munich legend affirmed: "Messi is the GOAT. In the first 10 years of my career, I would choose Ronaldo. But since the 2022 World Cup, for me it's Messi. The older I get, the more romantic I become, valuing style and aesthetics more than statistics or personal performance."

Notably, Muller has made Messi feel regretful many times on the field. He and Bayern created a historic 8-2 victory over Barcelona in the 2020 Champions League. Previously, at the 2014 World Cup, Muller also made a great contribution to helping the German team defeat Argentina in the final.

It is understandable that in the past, the German midfielder chose Ronaldo for a simple reason: "I have good statistics against Messi, but vice versa against Ronaldo". But now Muller has changed his opinion. He acknowledges the greatness of both but focuses on the emotional and artistic value in the playing style that Leo brings.

Muller made his mark early on for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Despite having a goal taken away from him in his debut against Houston Dynamo, he scored a last-minute penalty to help his team beat St. Louis City 3-2 on August 24, and was named captain in his first start.

The Whitecaps are currently third in the MLS Western Conference standings and are set to face the Philadelphia Union on September 14.
