The US establishes missile bases in Poland.

" It will take time, but it will demonstrate America's geostrategic resolve. The Polish-American alliance is very strong, regardless of who is in power in Warsaw and Washington," Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski declared.

The US missile base is located in the town of Redzikowo near the Baltic coast. Poland says the base symbolizes the fact that its military alliance with Washington remains strong, regardless of who is in power in the White House.

Polish President Andrzej Duda will attend the inauguration of the new base. On November 11, Andrzej Duda revealed that Donald Trump had called him to congratulate him on Poland's Independence Day.

Previous criticisms by President-elect Donald Trump have worried some NATO members, as he has stated that under his leadership, the U.S. would not defend countries that do not spend enough on defense.

However, Poland is confident as it is the country that spends the most on defense relative to the size of its economy .

In July, NATO also announced that a new US air defense base in northern Poland was ready for deployment. The base was built to detect and intercept ballistic missile attacks, as part of the broader NATO missile shield.

This new U.S. ballistic missile defense site is located in Redzikowo, Poland, and is now operational, ready to protect the alliance. "Known as Aegis Ashore, this site is part of NATO's larger missile shield and is designed to detect, track, and intercept ballistic missiles in flight," a NATO representative said.

Aegis Ashore is purely defensive. Approximately 200 military personnel are stationed at two interceptor sites in Poland and Romania. The base in the Romanian town of Deveselu has been operational since 2016.
