On April 4, the “Fram2” crew completed the first manned space mission to explore Earth from polar orbit and fly over the Earth's polar regions.
After four days in orbit, SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft carrying astronauts landed safely at 9:19 a.m. Pacific time (11:19 p.m. Vietnam time) off the coast of Oceanside, California. This is also the first time a Dragon spacecraft carrying astronauts has landed safely in the Pacific Ocean.
The Fram2 crew includes mission commander Chun Wang, vehicle commander Jannicke Mikkelsen, pilot Rabea Rogge and mission and medical specialist Eric Philips. The crew began their journey on March 31 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
According to SpaceX, the crew conducted 22 studies to help advance humanity's ability to explore space for long periods of time and understand human health in space.
Notable achievements include performing the first X-ray in space, conducting research on exercise to maintain muscle and bone mass, and growing mushrooms in microgravity.
After returning safely to Earth, the crew exited the Dragon spacecraft without medical assistance, allowing researchers to assess the ability to perform functional tasks without assistance after short and long periods in space.
The Fram2 mission not only marks a major step forward in exploring the Earth's polar regions from orbit, but also opens up new prospects for research on human health in the space environment. This is an important breakthrough in the history of space exploration./.
