The US attacks Iranian military bases; Kuwait is intercepting missiles.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it had carried out a "self-defense strike" against Iranian radar and drone bases in the city of Goruk and on Qeshm Island.

In a social media post, CENTCOM stated that the U.S. was responding to "Iranian aggression," including the downing of an MQ1 drone in international waters, according to Al Jazeera on June 1.

The agency said U.S. forces destroyed "Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station and two drones that threatened shipping transit through the region's waters."

Meanwhile, the Kuwaiti Army General Staff said its air defense system "is responding to hostile missile and drone attacks."

The military said there were multiple explosions as Kuwait's air defenses intercepted flying objects.
