In Long An , Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam and representatives of departments and branches attended.

According to the report of the National Traffic Safety Committee in 2023, there were more than 22,000 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 11,628 people and injuring 15,292 people. Compared to the same period in 2022, there were 1,285 fewer cases, 1,922 fewer deaths, but 660 more injuries.

Through review, there are 33 localities with the number of deaths due to traffic accidents, decreasing compared to the same period in 2022 (11 localities decreased by more than 20%), but 28 localities increased. Of which, there are 6 provinces with the number of deaths increasing by 80% or more.

In addition, in 2023, the traffic police force inspected and handled nearly 3.5 million cases of traffic safety violations, fined more than VND 6,576 billion, revoked more than 664,000 driving licenses, certificates, and professional certificates, and detained nearly 1 million vehicles of all kinds.

Of which, on the road, there were more than 770,000 cases of alcohol concentration violations; more than 2,900 cases of drivers testing positive for drugs; more than 66,000 cases of overloading; nearly 75,000 cases of lane and road section violations; more than 663 cases of speeding.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee - Tran Luu Quang requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to effectively implement Directive No. 23 of the Secretariat, Resolutions of the Government and Directives of the Prime Minister on ensuring traffic safety and combating traffic congestion. At the same time, effectively implement the 2024 Traffic Safety Plan with the theme "Respecting the law to build a culture of safe traffic".

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that ministries and branches coordinate to build and perfect institutions, mechanisms, legal policies and regulations related to ensuring traffic safety; review and adjust regulations related to ensuring traffic safety immediately after the Road Law and the Traffic Safety Order Law are passed by the National Assembly.

In particular, timely and effectively apply scientific and technical achievements to serve the work of ensuring traffic safety; ensure the progress and quality of key traffic infrastructure investment projects; continue to review and promptly handle black spots and potential traffic accident spots; strengthen the effective management of transport business activities.

Along with that, the authorities continue to strengthen patrols and control, strictly handle violations, no restricted areas, no exceptions; improve rescue capacity, rescue victims and overcome the consequences of traffic accidents; urgently build a traffic accident reporting application on a digital platform to promptly handle and overcome the consequences of traffic accidents,...

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that ministries, branches and localities mobilize maximum forces, equipment and means, and synchronously and effectively implement measures to ensure traffic safety so that everyone and every household can celebrate the Lunar New Year 2024 safely and happily./.
