On the evening of March 25, in the coastal city of Phan Thiet, the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to solemnly organize the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence".
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2023 is an important event, consistently responding to the message of the third National Tourism Conference chaired by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 15.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that in recent years, Vietnam's tourism has developed remarkably, becoming an important economic sector and truly becoming a bright spot on the world tourism map, recognized by the international community with many of the world's leading tourism awards.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated: "We affirm that we will not only develop tourism simply, but also develop green tourism and sustainable tourism, so that Binh Thuan will become a bright spot in tourism development in the Central region and the whole country.
Thereby, affirming the Party's consistent policy that economic development must be in harmony with nature, not trading the environment for economic growth. Taking advantage of this internal strength, Binh Thuan will turn the disadvantages of dry weather, sun and wind into its own brand "blue sea - white sand - yellow sunshine" throughout the length of development.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang emphasized that 2023 is a pivotal year for implementing socio-economic development goals according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the 2021-2025 period.
Accordingly, our Party and State always pay attention to and direct the tourism industry and all sectors and levels to maximize the available potentials and strengths to develop tourism associated with the goal of sustainable development, closely and effectively linking with the preservation and promotion of heritage values and national cultural identity - a very important task emphasized by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, Binh Thuan province and localities nationwide to focus on developing plans and strategies and take drastic actions to successfully implement the goal of developing green tourism as the theme of the National Tourism Year 2023; maximize potential and advantages, strengthen and promote linkages and cooperation between localities and regions, create a chain of destinations and promote the creativity of each person in the region to create a combined strength for tourism development.
To create a combined strength in sustainable tourism development, according to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, localities, relevant levels and sectors need to pay attention to promoting socialization and public-private cooperation in tourism activities and development, creating jobs for people in their homeland; contributing to poverty reduction, actively shifting economic structure, protecting the environment, beautifying the landscape, creating a new look for the country and homeland.

At the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung also said that the National Tourism Year 2023 aims to accelerate the recovery and accelerate the effective and sustainable development of Vietnam's tourism, according to the Prime Minister's conclusion at the third National Tourism Conference on March 15 - exactly one year since Vietnam fully reopened to international tourists after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister Nguyen Van Hung believes that with the attention and leadership of the Party and the State, the listening and timely direction of the National Assembly and the Government to remove bottlenecks, along with the efforts of the business community, all levels, sectors, localities and the entire people with the mission of "Every Vietnamese citizen is a friendly tourism ambassador", Vietnam tourism in general and Binh Thuan tourism in particular will quickly recover and develop.
Speaking here, Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Doan Anh Dung, Head of the Organizing Committee of National Tourism Year 2023, said that Binh Thuan has risen from hardship, known how to take advantage of potentials, turning difficulties and challenges into opportunities to rise strongly and achieve achievements in almost all fields.
In particular, Binh Thuan tourism has made miraculous changes, gradually becoming a key economic sector. From a wild, arid coastline, Binh Thuan tourism now has a complete infrastructure system with beautiful resorts and beaches, close to nature, voted by many prestigious magazines as the ideal and most attractive destination in Vietnam and the region.
Mr. Doan Anh Dung emphasized: "Welcoming the National Tourism Year 2023, in the past time, Binh Thuan province has done its best to strongly attract investment resources to upgrade transport infrastructure, tourism, services, hotels, modern resorts, fully integrated with high-class utilities to best prepare for this important event. We believe that Binh Thuan will leave a good impression in the hearts of tourists and friends near and far."

The opening ceremony featured a special art program, demonstrating the determination to realize the goal of developing green and sustainable tourism of Vietnam's tourism industry; introducing the history of more than 300 years, forming the unique and long-standing cultural features of Binh Thuan; the journey of developing sustainable tourism of Binh Thuan based on the strengths of terrain resources, climate, human resources, developing tourism associated with preserving and promoting national identity.
The 2023 National Tourism Year "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence" will have more than 200 unique cultural, sports and tourism activities and events of national and international scale taking place throughout 2023 in Binh Thuan province and 41 provinces and cities nationwide. The event spreads the message to friends and tourists everywhere about a Binh Thuan that takes green development, sustainable development, and environmental friendliness as its pillars, a place where the past and the present, nature and people intersect, a place where many colorful cultures converge, contributing to building a Vietnam that is forever green, peaceful, prosperous and happy.
