James Pham, editor of Lonely Planet - the world's leading travel guide, has an article sharing his 3-day, 2-night experience in Da Nang.

James had a trip that he said he would never forget in the coastal city of Central Vietnam.

“Da Nang has been on the radar of discerning travelers for the past few years,” James wrote in the article, calling it “a destination that has it all” — sea, mountains, cuisine , heritage, and a laid-back atmosphere that few places can match.

For James, choosing a place to stay is also an important part of creating a complete experience in Da Nang. He calls Novotel Danang Premier Han River the “golden coordinate” to fully admire the beauty of the city and Han River.

From the top floor of this 37-storey hotel - also the tallest building in downtown Da Nang - the view is spectacular, especially at sunset over the brightly lit bridges.

To enjoy “a vacation within a vacation,” James Pham did not hesitate to spend time hiding at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on Son Tra Peninsula. He described this place as a separate world with a beautiful private beach, nestled under the forest canopy, where every moment exudes a rare luxury and peace.

For those who still keep their childlike hearts, James Pham has praise for Mercure Danang French Village Ba Na Hills - the only hotel located in the Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area.

Here, he likes the feeling of enjoying the quiet space after the day's tourists leave, as if the whole tourist area belongs to him.

James especially appreciated the privilege of taking the first cable cars at 6am to the Golden Bridge, when the dawn was just breaking and the bridge and its giant hands were submerged in a sea of clouds.

An experience that James calls a worthy gift for those who wake up early. “Right before the resort opens to welcome guests, you will have the bridge to yourself to take unforgettable selfies,” he revealed.

Lost in the fairy tale French village

The stop that this male editor most looked forward to on his journey to explore Da Nang was Sun World Ba Na Hills - a unique entertainment and tourist area resembling a miniature ancient Europe in the mountains and forests of Central Vietnam.

“This is where the French village appears with a miniature Notre Dame church, a glass pyramid reminiscent of Le Louvre, majestic castles, babbling waterfalls and a series of exciting games” - James Pham introduced.

The cable car to the top of Ba Na is not only a means of transportation, but also a world-class engineering masterpiece, holding many impressive Guinness records that make domestic and foreign tourists admire.

Each cabin is like a magical box, opening up to a breathtaking natural landscape: white waterfalls, shady old forests and dreamy mists. "The 20-minute cable car ride to the main tourist area is a journey in itself, passing through the breathtakingly beautiful deep green forests" - James commented.

As soon as he set foot on the square, he immediately felt the contrast: After a quiet journey suspended in the forest, Ba Na lit up with a bustling festival atmosphere. James Pham immersed himself in the world of shows such as Oktoberfest; Happy Fair - an outdoor show staged like a colorful fairy tale fair, recreating the atmosphere of medieval Europe right at Beer Plaza.

In the bright sunshine, visitors raise their glasses of craft beer, enjoy fragrant sausages, immerse themselves in the cheerful melodies and vibrant rhythms, becoming a part of the show.

From the luxury banquet table to the highest point in the city

After a day of sightseeing on Son Tra Peninsula, James went to La Maison 1888, the first fine dining restaurant in Da Nang to receive 1 Michelin star and keep the star for 2 consecutive years, to enjoy a sophisticated dinner in the space of an ancient Indochina villa.

The elaborately crafted dishes, full of flavor, combined with glasses of fine wine bring him a classy taste experience, turning dinner into a true artistic gala. The cuisine here is "modern innovation on traditional cuisine".

The editor also chose Sky36, the highest rooftop bar in the city, to see the city's brilliant lights and fully experience the vibrant life of Da Nang. Looking down from the high floor, the whole city seems to be wearing a brilliant coat of light, with the sparkling Han River, the winding Dragon Bridge and the shimmering streets below.

In the vibrant space of music and modern neon lights, he felt a youthful, liberal, and vibrant Da Nang at night.

At the end of the trip, James did not forget to give some small advice to make the trip to Da Nang more complete. He advised tourists to wake up early to feel the dawn at Man Thai fish market and enjoy the deserted My Khe beach after 8am.

To watch the Dragon Bridge breathe fire, you should choose to stand at the foot of the bridge or the quieter Bach Dang side. And don't forget, from Da Nang, within just an hour's drive, you can easily explore 3 UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites - the quiet Hue with its mausoleums and temples, the mysterious My Son with its ancient Cham towers, and the lantern-lit Hoi An - to make your trip more profound and memorable.
