According to experienced fishermen, Bryde's whales only surface for about 3-5 seconds each time they hunt in the middle of the ocean, so they can only wait for signs on the water surface and flocks of terns to help determine the location of the Bryde's whale before surfacing to catch prey.

As the terns grow larger and more numerous, circling fiercely close to the water's surface, Bryde's whales emerge from the sea, opening their mouths to feed in the early morning light.

Bryde's whales, a large species of whale, have a unique way of hunting. They often herd small schools of fish into groups, then rise to the surface and open their mouths wide to swallow their prey.

Sometimes, they even make fish jump out of the water, creating an impressive sight, attracting seabirds to compete for food.
