Nam Sach keeps many current commune names for new communes after merger

Conference to deploy the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units, approving the names of communes in Nam Sach district held on the afternoon of April 23

According to the latest plan, Nam Sach district agreed to change Nam Sach 1 commune to Nam Sach commune, Nam Sach 2 commune to Thai Tan commune, Nam Sach 3 commune to Tran Phu commune, Nam Sach 4 commune to Hop Tien commune and Nam Sach 5 commune to An Phu commune.

The name of Nam Sach commune is associated with the name of the current district-level administrative unit, expressing pride in the name Nam Sach - a land of "spiritual land and talented people", with a famous tradition of studiousness and mandarin examinations of the Eastern region.

The name of Thai Tan commune carries a traditional cultural element, associated with the local traditional Chu Dau pottery brand. Currently, Thai Tan commune is located in the center and is 1 of 3 communes arranged to form a new commune.

Tran Phu commune is named after the first General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam . The name Tran Phu commune dates back to the 1950s. In 1956, Tran Phu commune was divided into two communes, Nam Trung and Nam Chinh. By December 2024, Nam Trung and Nam Chinh communes were merged and named Tran Phu.

The name of Hop Tien commune is associated with the name of a place with a rich revolutionary tradition of the district, where the Provisional Provincial Party Committee of Hai Duong province, the Nam Sach Provincial Party Committee and the Ta Xa self-defense team - the first self-defense team of Hai Duong province - were established.

The name of An Phu commune is associated with the ancient name from the 19th century related to all 3 communes. “An Phu” is a phrase expressing the wish for a peaceful, rich, prosperous and happy life.

The name Thai Tan commune aims to preserve and promote the traditional Chu Dau pottery brand of the locality.

The previous plan to arrange commune-level administrative units of Nam Sach expected that after the arrangement, Nam Sach district would have 5 communes left: Nam Sach 1, Nam Sach 2, Nam Sach 3, Nam Sach 4 and Nam Sach 5.

On the afternoon of April 23, the Nam Sach District Party Committee held a conference to deploy the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in the district, agreeing to immediately collect voters' opinions on the names of the above communes. According to the plan, on the afternoon of April 24, the communes and towns in the district will complete the organization of the People's Council meetings to pass related resolutions.
