On the morning of December 25th, in Hanoi , the Advisory Council on Democracy and Law of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front held a conference to summarize its work during the 2019-2024 term. Attending the conference were Ms. Nguyen Quynh Lien, Member of the Presidium, Head of the Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; and Professor Tran Ngoc Duong, Chairman of the Advisory Council on Democracy and Law.

During the 2019-2024 term, the Council for Democracy and Law actively participated in the development and implementation of annual work plans with enthusiasm and a high sense of responsibility. Council members were always enthusiastic and dedicated, participating in activities proposed by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The opinions and social critiques contributed by Council members were of high quality, effective, and based on both theory and practice. Many of the Council's opinions were selected by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and included in the Fatherland Front's recommendations, and were seriously considered and highly appreciated by the drafting agencies.

Notably, during the past term, the Council chaired the process of providing feedback and social critique on 38 draft legal documents, programs, and projects. Many of the Council's comments were compiled by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front into written recommendations, which were then accepted and addressed by the relevant agencies. In 2023, the Council organized three conferences to critique the second draft of the amended Land Law, the amended Real Estate Business Law, and the amended Housing Law; in 2024, the Council organized two conferences to critique the draft amended Cultural Heritage Law and the Urban and Rural Planning Law. The organization of social critique conferences has become more systematic, and the Council's preparation for these conferences has been thorough, meticulous, and scientific .

During the complex period of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Steering Committee of the Council assigned members to participate in 7 out of 9 inspection and supervision teams for the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term, as requested by the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in several provinces and cities. The participating Council members proactively and diligently studied legal regulations and reports from the inspected and supervised localities to provide objective and comprehensive observations and assessments, helping to identify and resolve obstacles in the preparation and organization of elections at the local level.
At the Conference, Council members discussed and contributed ideas to the summary of the work of the Council for Democracy and Law Advisory during the 2019-2024 term; and proposed solutions to improve the quality of the Council's work in the 2024-2029 term.

Speaking at the Conference, Ms. Nguyen Quynh Lien, Head of the Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism Department of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Council for Democracy and Law during the 2019-2024 term.
Ms. Nguyen Quynh Lien expressed her hope that, in the next term, the Council for Democracy and Law would continue to do a good job of advising and consulting the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, supervising the implementation of democracy at the grassroots level; and at the same time, closely coordinate with the Committee for Democracy, Supervision and Social Criticism and other advisory councils of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in activities of providing opinions and social criticism, and continue to make more contributions to the cause of national construction and development.
