Although it's still nearly a year away from its launch, the first leaks about the iPhone 18 Pro Max have begun to emerge, revealing a series of major upgrades to the chip, camera, and design.

According to sources, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max series will be introduced by Apple in September 2026, while the standard version may launch later, expected in spring 2027. After the iPhone 17 Pro Max has a new design, Apple can continue to push improvements in the appearance of the device in the next generation.

The most notable highlight is the A20 Pro chip manufactured on TSMC's 2nm process. Compared to the A19 chip equipped with the iPhone 17, the A20 is rumored to offer 15% higher speed and up to 30% more power. Thanks to that, the device promises to operate cooler and have longer battery life.

In addition, some rumors say that Apple is developing the 5G C2 modem, the successor to the C1 modem on the iPhone 16, to reduce its dependence on Qualcomm. The new modem is expected to improve connection speed, network stability and power consumption.

Another change that could come is the removal of the camera control button, which was introduced on the iPhone 16. According to reports, this feature did not attract many users and was not worth the production cost.

Notably, the iPhone maker could completely remove the Dynamic Island, replacing it with a smaller hole-punch design or Face ID placed under the screen. Analyst Ross Young predicts this feature will be realized by 2026, making the screen look seamless and optimizing the display space.
